Zimbabwean manufacturers are facing delays in the supply of raw materials due to the Iran conflict, a new survey shows, adding to growing cost pressures across industry.
The Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI), which represents some of the country’s biggest manufacturers, says a survey of its members shows that 56.1% have reported disruptions, including delays in the delivery of key inputs.
“These disruptions are likely to affect the availability and timely delivery of raw materials and finished goods, leading to production delays and increased operational uncertainty,” CZI says.
“As supply chains become less reliable, firms may be forced to seek alternative suppliers, hold higher inventory levels, or absorb additional costs, all of which can reduce efficiency and profitability.”
The supply disruptions come at a time when fuel costs have surged in Zimbabwe over the past month, compounding pressure on manufacturers already grappling with rising input costs and tight margins.
