Social impact platform RemitHope has launched a US$200 000 national fundraising campaign, Educating for Tomorrow, aimed at addressing the impact of rising unemployment on families and communities across Zimbabwe.
The eight-week campaign seeks to equip young people with practical, income-generating skills in agriculture, carpentry, welding, tailoring and information and communication technology (ICT). It will support the establishment of 10 Provincial Vocational and Education Hubs designed to serve as long-term engines of opportunity.
Rather than offering short-term relief, the initiative is focused on creating sustainable pathways to employment and entrepreneurship. By strengthening trusted community-based organisations into fully equipped regional skills centres, the programme aims to expand structured vocational training to more than 360 vulnerable young people nationwide.
Running from 24 February to 20 April 2026, the campaign is positioned as a strategic investment in grassroots capacity. “We are moving beyond once-off assistance,” RemitHope said. “This is about building institutions that can deliver market-relevant skills consistently and at scale.”
At a time when traditional development funding is tightening, the organisation is mobilising diaspora remittances, corporate contributions and everyday giving into measurable, community-led impact. Every dollar raised will be matched, effectively doubling the investment in youth skills development.
The campaign builds on previous drives. The “10 for 10” campaign raised over US$110 000 for grassroots projects, while more than US$80 000 was mobilised last year to help rebuild Mt Selinda Children’s Home after a fire destroyed parts of the facility.
