Econet InfraCo reports solid maiden half-year results after VFEX listing

Econet InfraCo, the VFEX-listed infrastructure subsidiary of Econet Wireless Zimbabwe, has reported its maiden results across its three operations — towers, power and real estate

The company has reported US$70.1 million in revenue and US$29 million in EBITDA for the six months to August 31, 2026, giving an EBITDA margin of 41.4%.

Chairman Godfrey Gomwe said management focused on operational resilience, asset utilisation and infrastructure expansion during the period.

He said heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East contributed to volatile global oil prices, putting pressure on diesel and other energy costs.

“The pressures affected the cost of powering InfraCo’s tower portfolio, although the company experienced no material fuel supply disruptions and maintained operational continuity and service availability,” Gomwe said. InfraCo is increasing site solarisation and deploying AI-enabled fuel management systems to reduce diesel consumption and identify inefficiencies.

“The phased rollout of its AI Fuel Manager is expected to reduce energy consumption and improve site uptime,” Gomwe said.

The company is also developing an AI-enabled Remote Monitoring System and Digital Twin initiatives to improve monitoring of infrastructure and asset performance.

TowerCo deployed new base station sites during the period to meet growing demand for network capacity and coverage, based on requirements identified by anchor customer Econet. PowerCo achieved a 30% reduction in fuel consumption through site solarisation, AI-enabled fuel management and advanced battery cycling technologies.

Construction has started on Phase One of the planned 100MW solar farm at Tech City, with initial power generation expected in the fourth quarter. The Real Estate business continued planning and development work for Tech City and the Victoria Falls Lifestyle Villas, with groundbreaking expected in the fourth quarter.

Gomwe said the results showed the resilience of the infrastructure business and provided a financial base for further investment. Going forward, InfraCo will focus on reinvestment in tower infrastructure, renewable energy projects and its property development pipeline.
